About this Project

Evans Electrical were appointed by Goldbeck Construction to deliver mechanical and electrical building services for the new eight-storey multi-storey car park at Central Quay, Cardiff, on behalf of Transport for Wales.

This landmark project is part of the wider regeneration of the Central Quay development and is strategically located next to Cardiff Central Station. Designed as a modern mobility hub, the facility provides seamless connections between car, bike, and rail travel — with future integration into the new Metro line.

Electrical & Building Services Scope

Evans Electrical provided a comprehensive M&E installation, supporting the client’s vision of a safe, efficient, and sustainable transport facility. Our works included:

LV Distribution – switchgear, sub-main cabling and distribution systems
Generator Installation – 100kVa standby / 91kVa prime-rated generator for backup resilience
Primary Containment – cable containment infrastructure throughout the building
Small Power Systems – general small power across all levels
General & Emergency Lighting – energy-efficient LED lighting with integrated controls
External Lighting – including striking feature LED façade lighting to illuminate the building at night
Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure – 4 single EV chargers and 12 twin EV chargers to support sustainable transport and future mobility
Data Installation – structured cabling to support building operations and connectivity
Fire Alarm System – full detection and alarm coverage for life safety compliance
CCTV System – ensuring security across all levels of the car park
Disabled Refuge System – compliant installations to support safe evacuation for all users
Lightning Protection – safeguarding the structure and electrical systems
Earthing & Bonding – ensuring compliance and operational safety
Testing & Commissioning – full inspection and certification of all installed systems
Working Drawings & As-Fitted Drawings – detailed design and record documentation
O&M Manuals – full operating manuals for client handover
12 Months Maintenance – post-handover support to ensure ongoing performance
