Evans activities comprised:

– Isolations, Recovery & Enabling Works: Full electrical isolations and enabling works carried out safely to facilitate refurbishment, including coordination with other trades.

– Containment Systems: Installation of galvanised steel trunking, tray, basket and conduit systems to support all new electrical, data, and security cabling throughout Blocks 2 and 4.

– LV Distribution – Including UPS: New low-voltage distribution boards and sub-main cabling to serve the refurbished areas. Installation of rack-mounted UPS systems to ensure resilience for critical healthcare and IT equipment.

– General Power: Provision of small power supplies to offices, teaching spaces, treatment rooms, simulation suites, and support areas, including both general and specialist medical equipment.

– CMD Wire Managed Desk Pods: Installation of fully integrated wire-managed desk pods for flexible student and staff working areas.

– General & Emergency Lighting Including Controls: LED lighting scheme throughout the facility designed for energy efficiency, including automated lighting controls, daylight dimming, and emergency lighting in line with healthcare regulations.

– Electrical Works to Mechanical Services: Power supplies and control wiring to support HVAC systems, pumps, AHUs, and other critical mechanical plant, ensuring integration with the building management system.

– Fire Detection & Alarm Systems – Including Disabled Refuge System: Addressable fire alarm system with automatic detection, manual call points, and voice sounders. Disabled refuge alarm system installed for safe evacuation procedures in compliance with HTM requirements.

– Intruder Alarms: Grade 3 intruder detection system installed to protect sensitive areas, including monitoring points and access-restricted rooms.

– Access Control: Card-based access control system with door monitoring and integration to secure entry points across the facility.

– Earthing Installations – Including Surge Protection & Lightning Protection System Alterations: Comprehensive earthing and bonding, surge protection devices installed to safeguard sensitive healthcare and IT equipment. Existing lightning protection systems modified to accommodate the new building layout.

– CCTV Systems: Internal and external CCTV coverage for safety and security, including high-definition IP cameras, recording facilities, and monitoring stations.

– WiFi Access Points: Installation of WiFi infrastructure across Blocks 2 and 4 to ensure full wireless connectivity for staff, students, and medical equipment.

– Testing & Commissioning: Thorough inspection, testing, and commissioning of all installed systems to ensure compliance with BS 7671, HTM regulations, and project-specific performance standards.

– Handover & Documentation: Provision of detailed as-fitted drawings, O&M manuals, and training for Cardiff University Health Board staff, ensuring smooth operation and maintenance of all systems.
