The development also features a wide range of high-end communal facilities including a state-of-the-art gym, private cinema, games lounge, co-working and study areas, landscaped outdoor courtyards, and a secure cycle hub. Attention to sustainability was central to the project, with energy-efficient systems, LED lighting, and advanced building management systems designed to minimise environmental impact and ensure long-term cost efficiency for the client.

Delivered on a fast-track programme, the project required careful coordination with multiple trades to achieve a seamless finish. Our team worked closely with Fusion Students, the design team, and the main contractor from RIBA Stage 4 onwards, ensuring compliance with building regulations, achieving high standards of safety and quality, and handing over a fully functional facility ready for occupation in time for the academic year.

Evans activities comprised:

• LV Distribution & Switchgear – Full installation of LV switchgear and distribution systems, designed to meet the high electrical demands of a large multi-occupancy building.
• Small Power – Installation of small power outlets to over 600 individual student bedrooms and all communal areas, ensuring reliable and safe power provision throughout the facility.
• Lighting Systems – Supply and installation of energy-efficient LED lighting across all student rooms, circulation spaces, and communal facilities, with integrated dimming and smart control systems.
• Emergency Lighting – Central battery-backed emergency lighting system installed in accordance with British Standards.
• Data & IT Infrastructure – Structured cabling and Wi-Fi access points installed throughout, supporting high-speed internet access.
• Fire Detection & Alarm Systems – A fully compliant addressable fire alarm system including smoke and heat detectors.
• Access Control & Security Systems – Comprehensive access control installed using proximity card readers, linked to CCTV and intercom systems.
• CCTV Installation – HD CCTV system covering entrances, corridors, communal areas, and external spaces.
• Earthing & Bonding – Full earthing and bonding systems, including surge protection, to ensure safety and compliance.
• Audio Visual Installations – High-quality AV systems installed in the cinema, games lounge, and co-working areas.
• Testing & Commissioning – Comprehensive testing and commissioning of all electrical installations.
• Sustainability Measures – Integration of energy-saving systems including LED lighting with PIR sensors and photovoltaic panels.
• Ongoing Maintenance – Provision of a maintenance support package to ensure reliable post-handover performance.
