Evans Electrical successfully delivered the full electrical installation for BT Group’s new headquarters at The Assembly, Bristol — a landmark 13-storey, 190,000 sq. ft. office development located on Bristol’s waterfront. The facility consolidates more than 2,000 employees from BT, EE, BT Business, and Openreach into one state-of-the-art workspace designed for collaboration, innovation, and wellbeing.

The project required a complex large-scale Cat B fit out to create a flexible, digitally enabled office environment featuring open-plan workspaces, collaboration hubs, restaurants, and cafés. The building was designed with future-proof infrastructure, integrating intelligent lighting control, advanced IT systems, and smart building technology to support BT’s forward-looking workplace strategy.

Working within a busy city-centre environment, Evans Electrical coordinated with multiple trades to manage logistics, safety, and programme delivery. Our installations ensure compliance, sustainability, and scalability for future technological needs while enhancing both user experience and energy efficiency.

Evans Activities Comprised

– LV & HV Power Systems: Supply and installation of LV distribution, HV switchgear, generator systems, automatic transfer switches (ATSs), sub-main cabling, and distribution boards.

– Small Power Installations: Underfloor busbar systems, floor boxes, grommets, and integrated desk power solutions.

– Mechanical Power: Electrical supplies to all mechanical plant, including HVAC and specialist equipment.

– Lighting Systems: Installation of general office lighting, architectural feature lighting, emergency lighting, and intelligent lighting control systems for energy efficiency.

– Containment Solutions: Full containment strategy including risers, trunking, cable trays, and conduits to support all services.

– MER & SER Services: Installation of UPS systems, power distribution units (PDUs), and dedicated sub-main supplies to meet resilience requirements.

– Vertical Transport Systems: Electrical infrastructure for lifts and conveyors.

– Life Safety Systems: Fire alarm system with VESDA detection, gas suppression systems, lightning protection, and integration of gas extract fans.

– Structured Cabling & AV: High-performance structured data cabling, AV systems, and IT-ready network infrastructure.

– Security Systems: Comprehensive access control, CCTV coverage, disabled call systems, induction loop technology, and a Public Address Voice Alarm (PAVA).

– Testing & Commissioning: Full certification of all systems, production of O&M manuals, and asset schedules.
