About this Project

Evans Electrical was appointed to deliver the complete electrical infrastructure for the new Foodworks Distribution Centre in Weston-super-Mare, a flagship logistics facility designed to meet the rapidly increasing demand for efficient and sustainable food distribution across the UK.

The facility spans multiple warehouse halls equipped with high-bay racking, automated handling systems, and extensive chilled and frozen storage areas. Integrated office suites, welfare facilities, and staff training areas were also included to provide a modern and safe working environment for Foodworks’ growing workforce.

Given the scale of the operation, the project required careful planning and coordination to integrate heavy-duty refrigeration equipment, warehouse automation technology, and 24/7 operational resilience. Evans Electrical’s role was pivotal in ensuring the facility could operate reliably, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact. With a strong focus on sustainability, the installation incorporated energy-efficient lighting, intelligent control systems, and provision for renewable power sources in the future.

Low Voltage Distribution & Switchgear: Full design and installation of LV distribution boards, main switchgear, and sub-main cabling.
Specialist Power for Refrigeration: High-capacity dedicated power supplies and control systems for chilled and frozen storage areas.

Data & Structured Cabling: Supporting warehouse management systems, scanners, CCTV, and IT networks.
Security Infrastructure: Comprehensive CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, and video intercom systems.
Fire Detection & Life Safety Systems: Advanced addressable fire alarm system and aspirating smoke detection.
EV Charging Infrastructure: Multiple EV charging points for staff and fleet vehicles.
Mechanical & Plant Supplies: Electrical connections for HVAC, ventilation, and chilled water plant.
Earthing & Bonding: Comprehensive systems ensuring safety, compliance, and resilience.
External Lighting: LED floodlighting for yard and loading bays.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover: Full testing, commissioning, O&M manuals, and asset schedules.
Ongoing Maintenance Services: Planned preventative maintenance and reactive callouts.
